Every year on the 14th of June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day(WBDD).
The event, established in 2004, serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.
The World Blood Donor Day theme for this year is “Give blood and keep the world beating”.
This theme highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keep the world palpitating by saving lives and improving others’ health. It also reinforces the call for more people all over the world to donate blood regularly and contribute to better health.
In honor of World blood donor day, The Ambulance Company, in conjunction with Lagos state blood transfusion service, is organizing a Blood donation drive on June 8th, 2021 at Gbagada General hospital.
As first responders to emergencies, we see almost on a daily basis, the need to have blood readily available at our various medical facilities, whether there’s a car accident or personal accident at home.
The blood drive is one of several ways to help serve humanity, as well as contribute a little quota to the supply of blood.
